BIM as a method for commercial architecture projects
With a view directed towards management and project innovation, in 2014, we implemented BIM methodology in our office through the software Autodesk Revit. The introduction of this work model brought positive impacts in our work culture and also the clients fastly started to recognize the benefits of the method when facing evident improvements and better results. Since then, we are studying and adopting new plugins and tools that gravitate around this methodology.
Beyond that, we are specialists in supporting companies with big commercial project flow in transition to BIM technology, improving agility, performance and standardization of its expansion process. Between these companies that we have already supported are the brands Lojas Renner and Centauro.
Benefits
Projects focused on results is one of the principles of BIM methodology. With the support of this technology we realized countless improvements that could be done in the project process and in execution performance. Using the software Revit as a tool in this process, it is possible to optimize time management in site execution, have better control of the costs, efficiency in the provision of data and precision on information..
New possibilities of collaboration and distance communication between different stakeholders become possible using BIM. What, consequently reduces errors, increases productivity, increases trust in the final project documentation, among others benefits.
BIM adoption has already demonstrated that can reduce…
… of the errors and the omissions
in documents.
… of the rework.
… in construction
costs.
… of the project duration.
BIM adoption enables:
… more collaboration
and communication.
… cost estimates
based on the model.
… better project visualization
before construction.
…improved coordination
and clash detection.
… Cost reduction
and risk mitigation.
… better productivity and
reliability.
BIM: interdisciplinary collaboration and multifunctionality
A BIM model can improve simple and complex processes of a project. Examples can vary from visualization of an integrated 3D model up to the management and maintenance of an already built construction. Adopting this method allows an interdisciplinary workflow, meeting costs demands, planning and sustainability. The implementation of these needs is a step-by-step process and also depends on the particularities of each client.

Supplementary Tools
With the improvement in the use of BIM, some tools and plugins may be necessary to support the resolution of specific problems and assure agility and accuracy. Although, everything depends on each client’s needs.
Point Cloud
As-built and geographical measurements have been getting huge improvements as machines increasingly take control over what they do best: measurements, documentations and calculations. The point cloud has allowed an exponential growth in modelling accuracy and the tendency is that this technology will become more accurate, fast and integrated with the project process.
Navisworks
Navisworks is a software that allows us to prevent 3D model interferences, integrate cost analysis and organize construction logistics. The complete integration of this software enables mapping aspects during the project that, before, were realized just during work construction. If well managed, it results in less waste of construction materials and a shorter construction duration.
Dynamo
Dynamo is a complementary software to Revit and allows the automation of tasks, the verification of the model according to the client’s standard and the overcoming of limitations imposed by Revit. That is, it is possible to deliver even more reliable results, with special care in management, always being delivered on time. It is possible to create routines with very specific demands for each project.
Visualization in 360º
From a 3D BIM model it is possible to offer to the client a clearer view of the project. Visualization tools allow a virtual tour of the project, providing a better understanding of it to everyone. A 3D visualization prevents surprises before the final approval and open discussions to improvements during the project.
